On the 30th of March, 2016, ESNL organised a Pizza Party about the restrictive regulatory frameworks that disadvantage energy storage companies and network operators.
During the meeting, a number of markets that can benefit from energy storage were discussed: behind the meter, wholesale, and net balancing.
The attending companies encounter various barriers: double taxation, procurement regulations, lack of flexible pricing for prosumers, fee structures, etc. The attendees also concluded that a large number of market stakeholders continue to lack knowledge about the value and possibilities of energy storage.
Once the delicious pizzas were finished, a brainstorm was held about possible ways of eliminating the identified barriers. Energy Storage NL will include participant suggestions in the National Action Programme Energy Storage.
