To accelerate market entry of sustainable energy innovations, KIC InnoEnergy launched a “Call for Innovation Proposals 2016.”

The Call is aimed at European companies – startups and existing Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises, or larger – that propose innovative sustainable energy concepts, but require help to commercialise their new service or product. To accelerate the trajectory from innovation to market, KIC InnoEnergy offers much-needed support for (for example) the development of a business concept, strengthening business models, assembling specialised teams, or access to financial resources.

The Call is looking for innovative ideas related to the eight thematic categories of KIC InnoEnergy:

  • Clean coal and gas technology
  • Energy storage
  • Energy efficiency
  • Energy from chemical fuels
  • Renewable energy
  • Smart and efficient cities and buildings
  • Smart grids
  • Sustainable nuclear and renewable energy conversion

Proposals can be submitted from 15 January until 4 April, 2016. Selected candidates will be asked to present their proposals to two panels of judges at KIC InnoEnergy.

On 31 May the winners will be announced, and KIC InnoEnergy will begin cooperating with the winning teams to bring their innovation to the market.
