about IPKW

Award-winning business park

The IPKW is a 90 Ha business park housing, facilitating and interconnecting sustainable businesses in, or related to, the energy sector. We have joined forces with the government, businesses and education in building the cleantech campus of the future.

Sustainability is a trait built into our fibres. The site formerly home to the Algemene Kunstzijde Unie (AKU) [English: General Rayon Union] carries out the message of sustainability in different ways. It does so on the one hand through the type of businesses it houses, and, on the other, in how the site itself is set up. The type of businesses it houses, the way the park is physically set up and how it’s run – with the IPKW stimulating a circular economy through the way in which it manages its buildings, energy, waste, people and mobility – are all geared to making the IPKW Holland’s most sustainable business park by 2025.

Interconnectedness and Synergy

IPKW’s focus is specifically aimed at businesses in the energy and environmental technology sector, otherwise known as cleantech businesses. Our tenants develop and innovate products and services with the aim of providing a cleaner future within an environment that appeals to them both economically, as well as from a CSR standpoint. Centre stage is taken by innovative businesses and education working together. The Greenhouse incubator platform and the Generation-E programme makes the IPKW a place offering energy start-ups development opportunities at our cleantech campus.

Facilities and Meeting People

By offering a wide range of facilities the IPKW encourages the furtherance of a vibrant cleantech community. These range from De Waard restaurant and our own maintenance service to the boot camp and an electric car sharing car for IPKW residents. Central in all of this is meeting and sharing knowledge. We regularly host and facilitate events, meet-ups and product launches inside our gates. That enables us to join hands and, together, work on developing tomorrow’s energy campus in what is a very special place steeped in history.
