Energy Storage NL in conversation with Ben Voorhorst
Energy Storage NL today met with Ben Voorhorst, special coordinator for grid congestion problems in North Brabant and Limburg. Voorhorst has been appointed by Minister Jetten to develop an approach to the full power grid problems in both provinces. In doing so, Voorhorst is also looking at national adjustments that are needed, such as faster procedure and licensing but also compensation in order to prevent the transmission of a lot of electricity at busy times.
Energy Storage NL updated Voorhorst on developments around energy storage. The added value of energy storage in preventing grid congestion in the short term and guaranteeing grid stability in the long term was discussed.
Ben Voorhorst previously chaired the system table of the Climate Agreement. Until 2021, he was operations director (COO) at national grid operator TenneT.
