Holland Solar, NedZero Energie Nederland and ESNL call on Lower House to support energy system cyber security measures
Cybersecurity plays a crucial role in the energy transition, in which our energy system is also becoming increasingly digital and decentralized. The recent news about possible vulnerabilities in solar inverters highlights the importance of secure and reliable products and systems for our industry.
Holland Solar, Energy Storage NL, NedZero and Energie-Nederland have brought this issue to the attention of the Lower House. In doing so, we call for the support of measures for a cyber-resilient energy sector. In addition, we stress the importance of careful communication about the risks and measures of cyber security in the energy system in a complex international context.
What did we propose?
- Support the energetic rollout of new cyber security legislation: such as the translation of the NIS2 Directive into Dutch law. Carefully examine the impact of existing legislation and avoid duplication or disproportionate requirements through hasty additional legislation.
- Advocates in the EU for independent inspection of inverters for compliance with CRA requirements:Because strict enforcement is crucial to ensure confidence in these devices.
- Encourage information sharing through an ISAC for the energy sector: Ask the Cabinet to facilitate and where possible support this development so that public and private parties can quickly and securely share threat information.
These measures are in the interest of the renewable energy sector and also contribute to a safe, reliable and future-proof energy system.
