Energy Storage NL response to the fall of the cabinet

The fall of the government comes at an extremely critical time for the energy transition in the Netherlands. While the social and geopolitical need to make our energy system more sustainable while guaranteeing security of supply, the political standstill threatens to seriously hamper progress. Energy Storage NL therefore has serious concerns about the pace of making the energy system independent now that the government is falling.

Especially now, clear choices, consistent policy and political decisiveness are essential. The Netherlands must speed up building a future-proof energy system - one that is not only sustainable, but also affordable, stable, resilient and therefore independent. Energy storage is not a luxury, but a necessary part of the new energy system.

This is because without storage, we cannot effectively harness the growth of solar and wind energy, we do not keep the grids in balance, and the energy system remains vulnerable to fluctuations and thus failures.

We therefore make an urgent appeal to politicians in The Hague: do not allow the energy transition to be derailed in a period of caretaker government. Use this time to take action where possible and lay the foundations for the next government. Make sure that energy storage gets the place it deserves in the energy system of the future.
