Compliment of the month: NP RES
In our "Compliment of the Month" series, each month we highlight a party that is is making an extraordinary effort to accelerate the implementation of energy storage. For September, this compliment goes to the National Regional Energy Strategy Program (NP RES).
In the Regional Energy Strategy (RES), 30 regions are working together to transition to renewable energy. This involves generating wind and solar energy on land, utilizing sustainable heat sources and saving energy. These are complex issues where spatial integration, local ownership and balancing diverse interests go hand in hand.
NPRES supports regions in this process. Not by steering, but by facilitating cooperation, disseminating knowledge and developing practical tools. In this way, the RES becomes not just a document with agreements, but above all a joint process that enables regions to make progress and avoid duplication.
Battery storage knowledge session: Oct. 1
A concrete example of this is the online knowledge session on battery storage organized by NP RES on October 1. Battery storage is developing rapidly: more and more municipalities are receiving concrete requests and are looking for ways to give policy and spatial direction to this. During the session RES coordinators, officials, grid managers and other professionals will get insights from practice, examples from municipalities and regions and tools to get started.
The speakers are:
- Annemiek van Bentem (NP RES): moderation and explanation of the program.
- Piet Ackermans (municipality of Oosterhout): experiences of sixteen municipalities and introduction of an assessment framework and roadmap for policy around battery storage.
- Jeroen Neefs (Energy Storage NL): lessons and insights from the practice of project developers.
- Ernst Meindersma (RES Stedendriehoek): how planning, strategy and the energy system come together in large-scale storage.
With their connecting role and initiatives such as this knowledge session, NPRES demonstrates the importance of knowledge sharing and cooperation in moving the energy transition forward. That is why we are happy to put them in the spotlight with the compliment of the month. Together we are paving the way for a future-proof energy system.
