Skoon opens energy platform for companies on waiting list
Power grid queues are growing, and with them frustration. Tens of thousands of businesses are on pause while batteries, and clean generators are underutilized. Today, Skoon launches a platform that breaks this deadlock.
The Rotterdam-based scale-up Skoon presents the Skoon Community: an open, transparent platform for finding, comparing and deploying clean mobile energy solutions. From battery containers to clean generators, directly in contact with the supplier, readily available, with no middleman.
One central place for smart energy solutions
With the Skoon Community, companies, municipalities and contractors now have direct access to a growing network of suppliers of mobile and stationary energy systems. Skoon acts as an independent infrastructure layer, where supply and demand meet directly. Suppliers manage their own supply, respond to requests and thus help their customer directly with a smart energy solution.
"The energy transition requires speed, overview and cooperation," says founder Peter Paul van Voorst tot Voorst. "We see daily requests from parties who do not know where to start. At the same time, suppliers were not getting enough overview of that demand. The Community connects this."
Grid congestion: problem and engine for growth
That there is a need for this kind of solution is evident from the figures. In the Netherlands, 14,000 companies are waiting for a heavier grid connection. At the same time, hundreds of mobile batteries and hybrid generators are underused, even though they are crucial for grid reinforcement.
Skoon sees this mismatch every day. "More and more energy projects are being submitted on our platform, often with high urgency," Van Voorst said. "But every quote is still requested, checked and forwarded by us. That costs time, money and leads to missed opportunities. That's why we are now opening up: anyone can participate."
From closed marketplace to open infrastructure
Until now, Skoon worked as an intermediary: the company arranged contracts and communication. With the introduction of Community, that model is being abandoned. Suppliers continue to use tools for quotes, reporting and customer management, but now come into direct contact with the end customer.
For energy users, the platform remains free of charge. Once they place an application, they receive offers from different suppliers, including price, availability and technical specifications, within 1 business day.
"We make it as easy as possible to find a battery or generator," says Van Voorst. "The Skoon Community shows what's available and helps make the best choice."
Additional support for complex energy questions
For customers who need additional guidance, Skoon offers additional services - such as technical advice or project supervision. But only when explicitly requested.
"This is how we maintain our independence," Van Voorst said. "We are building a foundation under the energy transition. Everyone should have access to clean energy without queuing."
International scalability
The Community is available nationwide starting today. Suppliers from Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom, among others, are already connected and will become visible on the platform in the coming months.
For 2026, Skoon plans a broader international rollout, particularly in regions where the combination of grid congestion and renewable ambitions is creating significant pressure, such as Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Live demo at Trade Fair Energy
The launch of the Skoon Community took place on Oct. 7, 2025, during the Energy Trade Fair in the Brabanthallen in Den Bosch. In the coming days, visitors can experience live how the platform works, interact with connected suppliers and submit their own energy requests.
