Energy Transition Regional Team calls on local formators to put energy transition at center stage

The reason for the letter is the sharply fluctuating energy prices and the high dependence on fossil energy from abroad. The organizations emphasize that investing in homegrown renewable energy and energy conservation ensures affordable, reliable and predictable energy for households and businesses.

In the position paper, ESNL and the co-signatories underline the crucial role of municipalities in sustainable energy generation, heat transition, energy infrastructure expansion and energy storage, among others. They also call attention to grid congestion, sustainable mobility, support for sustainable businesses and the importance of good resident participation.

The letter shows that an integrated approach pays off: by making smart choices in connection between generation, storage, infrastructure and heat, costs can be reduced and the energy system can be future-proofed.

With this position paper, ESNL and the other organizations want to support local leaders in making choices that contribute to a strong, sustainable and affordable energy supply.
