Internet consultation: Amendment decree on energy storage systems for electrical energy and storage of energy carriers

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (IenW) has taken an important step in the regulation of energy storage systems. Starting today, March 27, internet consultation is open for the Amendment Decree on Energy Storage Systems for Electric Energy and Storage of Energy Carriers.

Indeed, energy storage plays a crucial role in the future energy system. Already the number of storage systems is growing rapidly: from large-scale battery systems to storage in logistics environments and electric vehicle showrooms. With this development, the need for clear, nationwide safety frameworks is also increasing.

By setting national measures, a level playing field and an equal level of protection can be ensured. This amending decree contains rules to protect the living environment and aims to ensure safety, protect health and limit adverse environmental effects when operating energy storage systems and storing energy carriers.
