TenneT launches nationwide investigation into flexible power
System operator TenneT, in cooperation with regional grid operators and various industry associations, will investigate the possibility of unloading the grid at times when capacity demand is too high in order to create capacity. A national market consultation will be launched for this purpose. The study should provide more insight into where additional space on the existing grid can be found by deploying flexibility.
The study will focus on both opportunities for new investments in the grid and opportunities to make better use of the current grid. This will include the Non-Firm ATO, looking at which parties can make use of it and what compensation should be offered in return.
