Broad coalition energy sector calls for clarity on net-metering and self-consumption
In a joint statement, Energie Samen, Holland Solar, HIER, Energie-Nederland, Netbeheer Nederland, NVDE and Energy Storage NL call on the members of the Lower House to provide clarity on the abolition of the net-metering scheme. We hereby underline the importance of a clear flanking policy to help households make optimal use of self-generated solar power.
Although the salderingsregeling has contributed to the growth of solar energy in the Netherlands, it no longer suits the current phase of the energy transition. With this scheme being abolished all at once, it is extra important for consumers and entrepreneurs to quickly get clarity on ways in which a good payback period can still be realized for their own generation. Research by CE Delft and TNO shows that this is possible with the increase of own consumption, for example with a solar boiler or home battery. To prevent this more flexible consumption from worsening grid congestion locally, clear rules of the game are needed.
To talk through those ground rules, ESNL is organizing a knowledge session on home batteries soon: Join the conversation about home batteries! - Energy Storage NL.
