Heat storage Van der Valk Leeuwarden

In September, HoCoSto will start the construction of a 1000 m3 thermal storage facility for Van der Valk Leeuwarden. The heat storage under the parking lot will soon provide passive heating for the complex at times when the power connection is in full use; during peak hours on the electricity grid. The heat storage will also create flexibility in the purchase of electricity. This flexibility will be used to produce heat at the lowest possible cost. This will occur mainly at times of power surplus on the electricity grid.

Integrating thermal storage into the energy system, combined with smart energy management, allows expansion within the already contracted capacity.

A grass field will be built above the heat storage, later solar panels may be set up here.

Thanks to total installer Linthorst's innovative solution for the hotel expansion, grid congestion is no longer an obstacle to construction plans. Initially, the hotel was denied contract power due to a halt on grid connections for all construction projects.
