Utrecht office

Fire Station Belcampo Utrecht

Soon HoCoSto will start with the preservation of the fire station and the office of Safety Region Utrecht on the Belcampostraat in Utrecht. In line with the objectives of the client Municipality of Utrecht, the building will be energy-neutral. All required heat and cold will soon be produced locally, and where necessary stored for later use.

HoCoSto supplies the heat generation (solar thermal), heat storage and technical space including energy management here. The heat storage will be a Buffer-in-Buffer seasonal storage (1450 m3) with peakshaver (250 m3). In addition, the existing CHP will also be integrated into the system.

⚡️Door applying 3 forms of storage creates a lot of flexibility in the system. This allows us to choose the moments when the heat pumps are used. Self-generated electricity is then no longer fed back, but stored in the form of heat.

💡 A special feature of this project is the 4-fold use of space: an underground thermal storage facility with a covered parking lot above the storage, including charging facilities. The solar collectors will be placed on the canopy.

💡 Solar thermal generates 3 to 4 times more energy than PV panels, and directly in the form of heat. Without incorporation of solar thermal it would not have been possible to make this building energy-neutral due to the limited square meters of roof area.

Construction will begin in June and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
