Project Amethyst

Amethyst, a project of Dispatch Grid Services, is the largest stand-alone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the Netherlands. Located in the port area of Dordrecht, South Holland, this pioneering 45 MW / 90 MWh utility-sized battery storage system occupies a 6,000 m² site. On average, it will store enough energy to provide electricity to 21,500 households daily. The system not only stabilizes the power grid, but also optimizes the use of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power. Construction is currently underway, with completion expected in early 2026.
