Qurmit wins audience award Net Congestion Innovation Competition during National Net Congestion Day
At the National Grid Congestion Day 2026 in Arnhem, Qurmit won the audience award of the Grid Congestion Innovation Award. The prize went to Qurmit for a business energy storage system that is fire-safe and may be placed indoors, without a separate technical room or outdoor installation in the form of a container and expensive insurance.
Local and national governments and industry seek concrete solutions to grid congestion in the Netherlands. The public chose Qurmit because QurmitXL removes a barrier that many companies face. Installing a storage system usually means a bigger operation: a container outside or a separate technical room with strict fire safety measures and expensive insurance and long permit processes. Qurmit's system can be safely placed indoors without expensive insurance and long permit processes, making it a solution for a larger group of companies and institutions especially in urban areas.
With decentralized storage at companies and institutions, peaks on the local grid can be smoothed out. Self-generated solar energy is stored until the company can use the power. In this way, part of the supply peak is reduced, exactly where congestion occurs most often now.
About Qurmit
Qurmit Energy Storage Systems develops and manufactures Qurmit home batteries for individuals and QurmitXL energy storage systems for SMEs. Based in Eindhoven, the company focuses on energy storage systems that can be placed fireproof indoors and are also 95% recyclable. In doing so, Qurmit contributes to solving grid congestion at the source: at households that now feed back at peak times or as an energy buffer for companies so that at peak times the power needed can be delivered from the buffer instead of burdening the grid.
