What is Vopak’s strategy on battery energy storage?

As part of our Accelerate strategic pilar, Vopak does focus on Battery Energy Storage (BES): Storage of electrical energy in assets that charge from- and discharge to the electricity grid (power-to-power). Vopak is developing assets with a discharge duration at full capacity of up to 4 hours using lithium ion battery technology (Short Duration Energy Storage), as well as assets with a discharge duration at full capacity of 8 hours or more (Long Duration Energy Storage – LDES) for which besides lithium ion also other technologies are used (e.g. flow batteries, compressed- or liquid air energy storage, etc).
